Payroll Supervisor

The Payroll Supervisor oversees the accurate and timely processing of the organization’s payroll. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; manages payroll staff; audits payroll reports; and collaborates with HR and Finance to maintain payroll integrity. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, analytical skills, and deep payroll process expertise. Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations Supervise end-to-end payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and contract employees. Review and approve payroll entries, adjustments, and final pay calculations. Ensure timely and accurate distribution of paychecks, direct deposits, and payroll reports. Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws. Oversee preparation and submission of payroll tax filings and W-2/1099 documentation. Audit payroll reports to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll data. Partner with HR to process employee changes, benefits deductions, and timekeeping issues. Coordinate with Finance to reconcile payroll accounts and provide payroll-related data. Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality. System & Process Management Oversee payroll system updates, configuration, and maintenance. Develop and implement process improvements to optimize payroll accuracy and efficiency. Ensure data integrity between payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems. Qualifications Required 3–5+ years of payroll experience, including supervisory or team-lead responsibilities. Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and wage-and-hour rules. Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, Ceridian, Paylocity, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
