Regional Safety Specialist

The Regional Safety Specialist, H&S Operations Support is responsible for facilitating the implementation of safety programs to meet Company requirements and regulatory consensus standards. The role involves performing field visits, conducting safety education sessions, and analyzing regional safety program effectiveness for improvement recommendations. Serving regional Davey residential/commercial, commercial landscape services, and Davey Resource Group (utility vegetation management, utility asset management, and environmental consulting) operations in the Bay Area region including: Menlo Park, San Francisco, East Bay, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Sacramento, and Santa Rosa offices.

The Regional Safety Specialist, H&S Operations Support is an exempt, full-time employee. Duties include assisting field management with the implementation of new and existing safety programs, performing major assignments related to safety initiatives, scheduling and directing safety education sessions, processing Career Development Program books, conducting 'Train the Trainer' safety education sessions, independently verifying program compliance through on-site visits, evaluating and determining whether equipment can continue to be used, using independent judgement to assess whether non-compliance with safety requirements poses a risk, analyzing regional health and safety program effectiveness, investigating assigned whistleblower cases, investigating incidents as requested, providing safety advisory support, supporting response to storms and natural disasters, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a driver's license, working knowledge of rope and saddle tree climbing, solid working knowledge of safety standards and practices in arboricultural operations, proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer or software programs, and the ability to successfully pass government-administered background checks. Preferred qualifications include a minimum of three years of qualified arborist field experience, three years of leadership responsibility in a supervisory or foreperson capacity, and fluency in Spanish.

The position involves remote work, travel, and in-person, office or field visits with department and service line employees. It also involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, moving mechanical parts, inclement weather, emergency conditions due to storms and natural disasters, noise level and environmental changes, distractions and interruptions, and travel away from home, up to 75% of the time.

Pay range: $85,000-$95,000. Position qualifies for Davey vehicle or FPlan.
