Position Overview:

Rising Scholars Early Learning Academy seeks a hands-on Before/After School Director to lead daily programming for elementary and middle school scholars. This position combines program oversight with direct supervision, meals, transportation, homework support, enrichment, records, and facility readiness.

Schedule

Monday–Friday; morning and afternoon school-age program hours, including school transportation and assigned building closing.

The role may operate as the sole assigned program staff member when enrollment and licensing requirements permit. Assignments and staffing may change with program needs.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with documented education and experience sufficient for the assigned Pennsylvania school-age program role.
• Meet the applicable licensing, staff classification, and supervisory requirements for the assignment; credentials and experience will be verified before placement.
• Demonstrated experience working with school-age children and the ability to organize routines, guide behavior positively, and lead engaging activities.
• Valid driver’s license appropriate to the assigned vehicle, acceptable driving record, and approval under RS vehicle and insurance requirements; meet any additional driver qualifications applicable to the service.
• Availability for assigned morning and afternoon program periods and closing duties; ability to manage supervision, attendance, meals, transportation, and documentation reliably.
• Meet all applicable Pennsylvania background-clearance, health documentation, training, and ongoing professional-development requirements before performing duties that require them.
• Current pediatric First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain required certification before performing duties that require it.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDA, relevant college coursework, or a degree in education, child development, or a related field.
• Prior school-age program leadership, child transportation experience, and experience supporting homework and enrichment.
• Familiarity with ProCare, child care safety procedures, and meal-service documentation

What You Will Do:

• Lead a safe, consistent before and after school program; prepare schedules, materials, and activities for elementary and middle school students.
• Open the morning classroom, check scholars in, confirm transportation needs, and serve breakfast following allergy, food-safety, and meal-record procedures.
• Prepare scholars for departure, complete vehicle checks and logs, and transport them to school on approved routes.
• Pick scholars up from approved school locations; verify attendance, restraints, and safe handoffs, and communicate missing riders or delays promptly.
• Serve afternoon snack, provide structured homework assistance, and lead active recreation, reading, games, creative projects, and problem-solving activities.
• Maintain active supervision, required ratios, accurate records, and authorized release procedures until every scholar has departed.
• Follow transportation procedures, including post-run vehicle sweeps, mileage logs, no unapproved stops, and one-quarter-tank reporting.
• Typically complete assigned building closing and classroom reset tasks; leave program areas clean, organized, and secure.
• Report to supervisor and communicate daily about attendance, staffing, incidents, families, supplies, and transportation concerns. Use ProCare and approved RS communication channels.

You keep morning departures organized, create an engaging afternoon, account for every scholar, and complete records and closing tasks. You anticipate needs and communicate promptly with families, schools, and administration.
