Civil/Structural Cad Designer II Houston

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Civil/Structural Cad Designer II Houston to join our team. This individual will be responsible for creation and/or modification and implementation of facilities related and controls drawings with direction from Engineers. Designer will be responsible to create bidding and construction documents for client from inception to final Issued for BID and/or Issued for Construction. Projects will be multi-disciplined covering civil, mechanical, and electrical works and Designer will need to work with other disciplines to integrate and coordinate electrical deliverable with other team disciplines. Responsible for the successful delivery of each project through management of internal staff and strong management of change. The Cad Designer II will apply practical knowledge of their job area which is typically obtained through an advanced education and work experience. This individual will work independently with general supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of drafting tasks.
• Revise existing drawings as required and correct "As Built" drawings.
• Consistently meet deadlines while producing accurate documents
• Conceptualize, design and communicate successfully in Cad using current industry best practices.
• Maintain and organize accurate design and drawing archives and revision history.
• Be able to communicate effectively while working in a team environment.
• Draft Schematics (in AutoCAD), layouts, and other diagrams to support engineers on projects
• Be a subject matter expert in building codes, federal transportation regulations, development of details and the organization of construction documents.
• Provide guidance and instructions to technicians and designers
• Understand company drafting quality process and check
• Compute moderate calculations under the direction of a designer or engineer

Position Requirements:

• A.A.S. Degree in Structural/Civil drafting and design or relevant background
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
• Previous discipline focused experience preferred
• Oil and gas industry experience preferred

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Have a full understanding of 2D and 3D Cad software, preferably AutoDesk.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and some database knowledge.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong leadership skills to work and lead a team to ensure projects are accurate and completed on time
• Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations.
• Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.
• Advanced skillset in Autodesk 3D products (Revit, Civil 3D, Cadworx, Navisworks, etc.)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
• Verifiable Structural Steel 3D modeling and detailing experience.
• Strong Structural Steel design and fabrication knowledge including 3D Model creation to create automated fabrication drawings, BOM production and fabrication documentation.
• Concrete design detailing experience.
• Civil site and grading design experience.
• Survey data processing experience

Physical Requirements and Demands:

• The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
• Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
• The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
• Frequent periods of standing for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.
• Ability to work long hours when projects demand.

The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated range for this position is $31 - $42 per hour. Our benefits include:
