Hartford HealthCare’s Behavioral Health Network (HHC BHN), the largest and most comprehensive behavioral health system in New England, has a new opportunity available for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our cohesive multidisciplinary inpatient team at The Institute of Living, one of America’s “Ivy League” Behavioral Health Centers, and a national leader in comprehensive treatment, research and education.

Position Summary

Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective advanced practice care for patients, families, and others in the geriatric population. Participates in the medical management of patients, to achieve or maintain optimal health status, manage disease and reduce risk of illness. Engages in independent decision-making regarding the health care of individuals, families and groups in the geriatric population. Assumes responsibility for self-improvement by identifying, communication, and seeking resources or instruction to meet self-learning needed. Reports to Director of Geriatric Psychiatry.

Some highlights of this opportunity include:

* The outpatient Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner practices with a team of providers across multiple levels of care (ie Inpatient, IOP, ED, outpatient, community) providing psychiatric treatment including: psychiatric evaluations; diagnosis; prescribing; psychotherapy; coordination of care, group therapy, and patient education

* A teaching and research environment with supportive attending physicians

* Frequent collaboration with other medical and mental health specialties

* Monday – Friday, 1 st shift

Qualifications

Eligibility to be licensed in Connecticut as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), is required. National Board Certification, or eligibility to be certified, as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is required.
