Position Summary A Collector is responsible for providing loss mitigation services for the Credit Union while maintaining established collection strategies. This position conducts member outreach, manages inbound contacts, and assists in resolving delinquency and collection-related issues. The Collector also supports Credit Union team members with collections questions and concerns while consistently promoting a positive, professional, and member-focused image through all interactions This position will always project a positive and friendly image for the credit union through interactions with members and co-workers. This position can work out of our Marshfield, Stevens Point, Neillsville, or Neenah branch. Contacts delinquent members and co-borrowers by phone, text and email to identify the cause of delinquency and develop appropriate repayment solutions, including payment plans. Monitors all collection-related inbound channels and performs necessary follow-up with members. Maintains accurate collection records and account notes within the Credit Union’s core system. Conducts account research to identify deposits, system issues, or other factors that may assist in resolving delinquent accounts Performs skip tracing activities to locate members and co-borrowers. Maintains and compile documentation and data related to repossession, charge-off, 3 rd party collection agencies, and legal judgments. Assists in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of collection related documentation. Serves as the primary contact for Creditor Placed Insurance (CPI) placements and related matters included Total Loss Processing. Processes and update member information received through various channels including TEAMS, helpdesk, web, mail etc. Assists in evaluating and recommending appropriate collections actions including when to comprise and settle balances, when to initiate foreclosure, repossession, legal proceedings and meets with attorneys or other relevant agencies for ongoing actions. Supports bankruptcy processing and represents the Credit Union’s interests as appropriate. Reviews credit reports and submit correction request when discrepancies are identified. Reinforces continuous collaboration and respectful communication between all departments by promoting strong, positive and productive working relationships by committing to the company’s core values, vision and mission statements. Requirements High school education or GED and one to three years of similar experience preferred. A high degree of mental concentration to interpret and act upon a wide range of situations, even under pressure. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to offer viable and creative alternatives while staying within credit union risk tolerance. Must be friendly and able to represent the credit union in a professional and positive manner. Believes in own capabilities and knowledge to affect positive outcomes and even succeed where others may not, and demonstrates that attitude in performing day-to-day activities. Self-motivated by the desire to accomplish goals and have exceptional performance; very open to receiving constructive feedback. Understands that change is necessary to evolve as a person and an organization, and reflects that in the context of daily work, handling change without becoming disengaged. Displays an on-going commitment to learning and self-improvement in areas that are job and/or organization-relevant. Compensation: Starting base pay of $18.63 per hourbased on experience , with earning potential of up to $27.95 per hour. *The final offer will be based on experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
