Medical Laboratory Technician - PRN

Responsible for performing chemical, hematology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank analysis in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Job Duties: Orders lab test accurately in the LIS computer systemReceives lab samples in the LIS computer system for processingProcess and analyze lab samples appropriately for each lab departmentEnsures quality lab testing and instrument performance adheres to regulatory compliance guidelinesMaintains competency requirementsCollect drug screens using correct form and generate correct chargeLabel and handle lab specimens properlyPerforms venipuncture to obtain blood sample using appropriate type of equipment to adjust to patient age.Use two identifiers to identify patients when collecting samplesEnsures supplies are well stocked in all areas. Monitor inventory and submit requests for supply orders to be processed by Material ManagementAlways answers phone using proper phone courtesyMaintains an organized and clean working areaResearch and resolve problems with lab samples and test reports by looking up patient results in the LIS computer system and fax to proper personnelSupports departmental goals and objectivesOther related duties as assigned
