The Nancy E. and Peter C. Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Cornell University invite applications to fill a joint tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level although exceptional candidates at all ranks will be considered. We seek candidates with expertise in bioinspired functional materials and cell- and tissue-interactive biomaterials. We welcome applicants whose research advances the design, synthesis, characterization, and processing of biomaterials and is motivated by clinical or translational challenges, with applications including drug delivery, orthopedics, medical devices and diagnostics, precision medicine, and related areas of human health. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in engineering or a closely related field, with a demonstrated potential for success as an independent investigator and educator.

The Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Materials Science and Engineering are located in the Duffield College of Engineering on Cornell’s campus in Ithaca, New York. The ideal candidate will benefit from strong collaborative ties to the College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca, and Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell Tech in New York City. Further opportunities for research and development are provided by an extensive network of centers and institutes including the Cornell Center for Materials Research, Cornell NanoScale Science & Technology Facility, Center for Vertebrate Genomics, Cornell Institute of Biotechnology, Cornell Center for Immunology, Cornell’s Preclinical Services Core, Englander Institute for Precision Medicine, Kavli Institute at Cornell for Nanoscale Science, Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology, Praxis Center for Venture Development and the Cornell Life Science Ventures.

Pay Ranges: $83,200 - $226,200
