About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS certification Must-Have: Med/Surg experience Description: The unit has 20 beds with a patient ratio of 6:1. Technical support is available on both day and night shifts. A unit secretary is available from 7 AM to 7 PM. Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximeters, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners. iMobile communication technology is utilized. The documentation system in use is Meditech. The scheduling requirements include three 12-hour shifts per week and two weekends (four shifts) in a four-week schedule. Contract labor is the first to float, with a rotation system when multiple contract staff are scheduled. Staff members are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and their families. Bedside shift reports are conducted, emphasizing personal connections with patients and involving family members in their care plans. The unit has received recognition as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center. Candidates should possess skills in prioritizing care, multitasking, IV starts, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes. Advanced skills are not required. Dress code requires navy scrubs, tops and bottoms. Please refer to the unit-specific policies and guidelines for additional information.
