Under the supervision of the Lead and clinical MRI technologists, this individual will assist with timely patient flow within the MRI section. The role includes performing inpatient pre‑examination MRI Safety Screening and transporting patients to and from the MRI suite, greeting patients, and providing direct and indirect patient care activities essential to comprehensive care for patients and their families. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures, with significant use of the Hospital Information System. The individual must provide appropriate care for patients served, regardless of age, and demonstrate outstanding customer service and the key behaviors outlined in the Hospital’s Core Success Factors in all interactions. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities Follow established procedures, completing routine interviews and patient screenings to obtain required patient data and demographic information that will assist the technologist in the assessment and planning of patient needs for the specific MRI examination. Interview patients, collect and enter data into EPIC system. Transport inpatients and emergency patients to and from the MRI suite, and transport patients to and from their unit to MRI in a cautious and safe manner. Function as a member of the care team to support the setup and pre‑examination preparation for patients undergoing MRI examinations, including answering telephones within three rings in a courteous manner, identifying self and department at all times. Maintain confidentiality of departmental information according to established procedures. Notify supervisor of workload status, often requiring reassignments or contributing to hospital cost containment via productivity and efficient operation. Maintain familiarity with computer and manual means to verify and retrieve needed patient information. Chaperone patients when necessary. Qualifications Education : High school graduate required; familiarity with computer‑data entry system. Experience : ARRT certification or completion of a certified MRI program. Healthcare experience preferred. Experience interacting with patients, physicians, and clinical caregivers. Licensure : ARRT certification or completion of a certified MRI program. Special Skills : Familiarity with computer‑data entry systems, ability to handle patients graciously, telephone etiquette. Ability to push stretchers and wheelchairs to and from MRI. Ability to learn and demonstrate competency in basic patient screening and patient care procedures within the specialty area, according to established protocols. Ability to prioritize and adjust work plans based on the needs of the patient, the section, and the radiology team. Physical Demand : Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, emergencies, and crisis situations. Subject to many interruptions, irregular hours, and a flexible schedule.
