Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise pipe crews on underground utility construction projects.
• Plan and coordinate daily work activities to maximize safety, efficiency, and productivity.
• Install and oversee the installation of water mains, sanitary sewers, storm drainage systems, manholes, structures, and related utility infrastructure.
• Read and interpret construction plans, profiles, grades, and specifications.
• Verify line and grade accuracy throughout utility installation.
• Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to meet project schedules.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Ensure trenching, excavation, shoring, and confined space operations are performed safely.
• Communicate effectively with Superintendents, Project Managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and utility representatives.
• Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Complete daily reports, production tracking, and crew documentation.
• Train, mentor, and develop crew members to improve performance and promote growth.
• Identify field challenges and implement practical solutions to maintain project progress.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 5 years of underground utility construction experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or foreman experience.
• Proven experience installing water, sewer, and storm utility systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and utility profiles.
• Strong understanding of trench safety and excavation practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred

• OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
• Competent Person Certification for Excavation and Trenching.
• CDL Class A or B.
• Experience with municipal and public infrastructure projects.
• Experience using GPS and grade-control technology.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in active construction environments for extended periods.
• Ability to work overtime as required to meet project schedules.
