Animal Research Technician (256829) Charlottesville, Virginia Salary: USD18.7 - USD20 per hour + See details in Job Description Animal Research Technician Will be Doing: In support of animal research studies, care for animals (lab mice) in aseptic (sterile) conditions. This includes feeding/watering, animal handling, and general husbandry activities following strict protocols. Monitor the health of animals and report observations. Specimen testing such as PCR, fecal gram staining, etc. Sterilize tools and equipment using autoclave and regulated cleaners. Assist researchers or veterinary staff with technical activities as needed. (i.e. animal restraint, breeding, etc.) Required Qualifications: Animal Care or Animal Handling experience, such as vet clinic, farm livestock or horse barn work, animal shelter / kennel / doggy daycare experience, pet store, etc.; Can be volunteer or professional experience Ability to follow technical procedures and instructions Great teamwork skills and communication skills HS Diploma or equivalent. Comfortable with / Interest in animal science or scientific research Preferred: Familiarity with laboratory analysis / specimen testing Laboratory animal handling experience ALAT certification or LVT certification Animal research experience is a big Plus Perks of the Job:
