MRI Technologist | Weekend Imaging Specialist

Site: Wentworth‑Douglass Hospital (Mass General Brigham) – The MRI Technologist will work at the Lee, NH location. The position is full‑time with a sign‑on bonus and full benefits. Job Summary: Under general supervision, the MRI Technologist will safely perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies using a magnetic resonance imaging system. Responsibilities include preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, acquiring images, performing computer processing, and displaying images. The technologist selects appropriate imaging protocols and performs quality‑assurance scans as required. Shift hours: Sat & Sunday 7:30 a‑8 p, Monday 12:30 p‑11 p. Availability for occasional overnight shifts and holidays (except for per‑diem technologists) is required. Responsibilities Ensure accurate patient identification and adherence to safety protocols in accordance with Joint Commission guidelines. Execute MRI scans for ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency department patients, adjusting parameters to maintain diagnostic quality and managing MRI safety in complex care environments, including adult anesthesia. Insert IV catheters as needed and prepare for and perform intravenous injection of MR contrast agents, including the use of the MR‑compatible power injector. Understand contraindications, monitor for adverse reactions, and record all information in the electronic medical record (EMR). Perform point‑of‑care testing where applicable. Instruct patients and visitors on MRI safety procedures and ensure adherence to safety policies. Act as a final checkpoint for patient safety and protocol clarification, and identify hazardous system malfunctions; secure the area and remove patients and personnel during emergencies. Perform scheduled quality‑control procedures on MRI scanner and related equipment, record QA results, and report potential equipment‑related problems to the supervisor. Assist Practice Assistant and other department staff with various duties such as scheduling, transporting patients, taking inventory, filing, etc. Rotate to MRI scanners across the assigned department as needed. Provide appropriate care to various age populations and may oversee students within the department or work with lab animals for research purposes. Qualifications Education: Medical Imaging required; Associate’s Degree in Medical Imaging preferred. Experience cannot replace a degree. Licenses and Credentials: Magnetic Resonance Imaging [R.T.(MR)(ARRT)]—American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or MRI Technologist—American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) required. NH Medical Imaging License (MR)(R) required. Basic Life Support required. Experience: 1–2 years as an MRI Technologist required. Skills & Abilities: Ability to operate complex electronic equipment and perform quality‑control procedures; transfer patients and manage the table; provide appropriate care to various age groups; maintain ethical standards and patient confidentiality; use departmental tools such as EMR, dose calculators, PACS; collaborate with MRI leadership for efficient patient flow; maintain working relationships with staff and other hospital personnel.
