Shop Helper

The Shop Helper supports the day-to-day operations of the shop by assisting with the maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of tools, materials, and equipment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our crews are well-equipped and prepared for field operations. Essential Functions: Assist with the loading and unloading of tools, equipment, and materials for field crews. Clean, inspect, and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment. Keep the shop, storage areas, and yard clean and organized. Support shop personnel and field crews with tool preparation and staging. Conduct regular inventory counts; track tool check-in/check-out. Dispose of scrap materials and debris in accordance with safety and environmental standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Follow all safety procedures and always wear appropriate PPE. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment. Deliver tools or materials to job sites as needed. Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred Previous experience in a shop, warehouse, or construction environment preferred but not required. Valid driver's license Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel, or operate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
