Special Education Paraprofessionals & Behavior Support Staff

Stockton, CA Area | San Joaquin County

Paraprofessionals: $28.00/hour | Behavior Support Staff: $31.00/hour

We're hiring compassionate and dependable Special Education Paraprofessionals and experienced Behavior Support Staff to support students with moderate to severe disabilities throughout the greater San Joaquin County area.

Assignments are available across the San Joaquin County Office of Education network and may be located in elementary, middle, high school, charter, or specialized educational programs. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to schools within approximately 30 minutes of central Stockton, as placements may vary based on student need.

Many of our positions involve working one-on-one with a student throughout the school day, allowing you to build meaningful relationships while supporting their academic, behavioral, communication, and daily living goals.

Behavior Support Staff

$31.00 per hour
Ideal for candidates with previous RBT experience, whether your credential is active, inactive, or expired

Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with moderate to severe disabilities
Assist students with academics, communication, behavior, social skills, and daily living skills
Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and reinforce positive behaviors
Support students with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, and other exceptionalities
Work alongside special education teachers, school psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, BCBAs, and other related service providers
Collect student progress and behavior data as directed
Assist with toileting, feeding, mobility, and other personal care needs when required
Help create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment while promoting student independence
Qualifications
Special Education Paraprofessionals

Candidates must meet one of the following:

Hold an associate's degree or higher
Complete at least 48 semester units (or 72 quarter units) from an accredited college or university
Pass a district-approved paraprofessional assessment

Additional qualifications include:

Experience working with children is preferred
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is highly preferred and may come from a school, clinic, hospital, ABA, residential, daycare, in-home, or family caregiving setting
Strong communication, patience, flexibility, and teamwork skills

Behavior Support Staff
Previous experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is highly preferred
Active, inactive, or expired RBT credentials are welcome
Candidates should have experience implementing behavior intervention plans and supporting students with autism or behavioral needs
Please note that BCBA supervision is not available for this position. Candidates seeking supervision to maintain or obtain an RBT credential should consider this before applying.

Preferred Qualifications
Comfortable providing toileting, diaper changing, feeding, and other personal care assistance when required
Passionate about building meaningful one-on-one relationships with students
Dependable, compassionate, and adaptable to different school sites throughout San Joaquin County

Hiring Requirements
Must successfully pass a DOJ/FBI Live Scan background check
Must meet all San Joaquin County Office of Education onboarding requirements, including TB clearance
Drug screening is required.
