Phlebotomist

Location: Vista, CA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, contract with potential for permanent placement; shifts between 6AM and 6PM Monday through Friday depending on location, with rotating weekend coverage (approximately one weekend per month) | Compensation: $20.25 per hour Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its clinical team on a contract basis, with the potential to convert to a permanent position. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and handling, supporting patient care through precise, courteous, and compliant laboratory practices. What you’ll do Perform blood draws and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test order requirements Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions against scripts for accuracy Package and store specimens per required temperature and protocol to maintain integrity during transport Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures Update patient information and maintain accurate records Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department training sessions Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Float to other locations as needed, with mileage expenses reimbursed Rotate weekend coverage, typically one weekend per month Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states) Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting 1-4 years of experience High School Diploma or GED Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Clean driving record Reliable transportation Compensation and benefits $20.25 per hour Benefits available Mileage expenses paid for float assignments to other locations Why this role This contract position offers the potential to transition into a permanent role, along with available benefits and reimbursed mileage for float assignments. #J-18808-Ljbffr
