The Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of functions related to plumbing, heating, medical gases operation, maintenance and repair of hospital and other building maintenance as required. Must be able to work independently. Position is strenuous and requires standing on feet for long periods. Must be able to lift heavy equipment when necessary or work in precarious locations.

Responsibilities:

• Assists craftsmen and maintenance works in any and all phase of their work.
• Carries tools and equipment at all times in order to be available for any emergency.
• Makes repairs to the following: replace light bulbs, ballasts, plumbing fixtures toilets, sinks, showers, faucets & all repairs associated with these fixtures, repair of oxygen & vacuum connections. Replace outlets, switches and all other minor electrical repairs.
• Works under close supervision performing all types of routine tasks and other duties as required and when necessary under the direction of the Vice President or Director.
• Required to assist in snow removal.
• Required to work various shifts as necessary, i.e. vacation/holidays, relief shift.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance in assigned areas (floors & machine rooms)
• When working night shifts Preventive Maintenance in OR's & Delivery Rooms
• Performs negative pressure testing cooperating with Infection Control guidelines
• Assists in construction projects on site and off site (demolition and final finishes)

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, Equivalent or relative experience.
• Valid NYS Driver's License
• Three (3) year maintenance mechanic background, knowledge of commercial tools and basic mechanical experience required.

Posted Salary Range

USD $27.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
