Nurse Resident-Health Central Multisystem PCU- Days

ORLANDO HEALTH – HEALTH CENTRAL HOSPITAL, Ocoee, Florida Position Summary Administers patient care in an area within a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where acute care patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post‑intervention care with assessment and ongoing support. This position is intended for licensed registered nurses with less than one year of experience. Responsibilities Administers bedside patient care under the supervision of a preceptor, leader, and/or charge nurse. Assesses patients’ needs, develops and revises individualized plans of care, and evaluates progress toward expected outcomes. Builds respectful relationships with all team members, patients, and families to respect diversity. Advocates for patients and their families. Provides care appropriate for the age of the patients served on the assigned unit or department. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician. Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to plan and manage patient care. Acts as a role model for staff and supports the hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies. Applies knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan, assesses patient data, and interprets information to identify each patient’s age‑specific needs. Coordinates patient care for a defined group and delegates tasks to team members. Documents patient care consistently, meeting all regulatory and required standards, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety. Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of unit equipment as defined by unit or department requirements. Contributes to the knowledge and skills of others, continuously improving quality of care and organizational outcomes. Participates in, and may lead, unit or organizational committees focused on nursing practice and performance improvement. Participates in departmental and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance. Uses supplies efficiently and maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area. Attends staff development in‑services, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings. Partners with nursing leadership to identify professional development needs. Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and continuing education. Actively participates in and attends the Nurse Residency Program as appropriate. Qualifications Education/Training: Graduate of a nursing school; meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit or department. Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse license in Florida or a valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate RN license; current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC required for certain areas; NRP required for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Experience: None required.
