Responsibilities Position Summary: The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) – Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13‑week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment the SLP organizes and provides speech‑language services for the location to facilitate rehabilitation. Key responsibilities include: Supervising CFYs, temporary licensees, students and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards. Effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient schedule, and timely documentation of services. Attending and contributing to patient care, staffing conferences and other related meetings. Making referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address comprehensive patient needs. Consulting with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen and plan of care. Adapting program and/or plan of care as needed. Promoting a safe environment and enforcing the elimination of fire and safety hazards. Ordering supplies and equipment as necessary, cleaning, maintaining, and reporting repairs. Putting patient service first, ensuring residents and families receive high‑quality, compassionate care that respects individual needs and rights. Screening, examining, evaluating patients, including history, systems review, and applying appropriate tests and measures; interpreting findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, predict outcomes, and design a treatment plan. Developing appropriate treatment goals and methods, implementing the speech‑language pathology treatment plan, and completing all related documentation and record‑keeping. Performing therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive‑communication, speech intelligibility, oral motor skills, swallowing disorders/dysphagia, perceptual abilities, orientation, memory, pragmatics, psychosocial expression, and functional communication. Coordinating the acquisition of adaptive communication devices and instructing patients in their use. Facilitating identification of hearing deficits and referring for assessment, diagnosis, rehabilitation, or amplification as appropriate. Selecting appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level and interests. Instructing patients in skills and techniques for participation in therapeutic activities, evaluating progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential. Performing routine reexamination as needed to modify or progress plan of treatment. Performing other related duties as required. Qualifications They must possess a master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or a similarly titled area that is consistent and acceptable to the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association.
