Job Title: RN ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: 2+ years of adult ICU experience required License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS & ACLS Must-Have: 2 years of continuous MICU experience required Ability to read telemetry strips Description: This position is for a Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The unit cares for a wide range of adult patients with various diagnoses. Common conditions include substance abuse/overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours a day. The unit has 20 beds and operates as a Level III Trauma Center. Floating to other medical and surgical units is required. Telemetry competency is necessary. The RN to patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other units. All patient populations are cared for in this unit. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system.
