Food Service Clerk

Salary: Consistent with the existing collective bargaining agreement salary schedule

Reports to: Business Manager / Assistant Business Manager

Hours: Monday - Friday, Seven (7) hours per day

Primary Purpose:

To provide clerical and administrative services for Food Service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manages and coordinates general office functions, unit accounting, secretarial duties of food service operations.
2. Verifies, allocates and posts details of food service operations transactions to subsidiary accounts in CSIU fund accounting software.
3. Reconciles and balances all general ledger accounts. Including reconciling of state and federal reimbursement to PDE Division of Food and Nutrition confirmations.
4. Assist with reconciliation of Food Service Management Company (FSMC) invoices to ensure accuracy of charges, and that charges are in accordance with contract.
5. Reconcile and verify meal counts provided by FSMC on a monthly basis and enter in CN Pears (state reimbursement portal) for the School Breakfast Program (SBP), National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP).
6. Assist with the on-site monitoring requirements of the SBP, NSLP, SFSP and FFVP.
7. Establishes uniform correspondence procedures.
8. Serves as a primary contact to the school community and communicates with student families, community agencies and other district employees regarding a variety of school food service related issues.
9. Maintains records relating to Direct Certification, if free / reduced lunch if applicable.
10. Maintains and uploads Direct Certification files to establish the District's Community Eligibility rate.
11. Check students' balances at all sites. Sends out monthly account balance letters to households or FSMC.
12. Update district website with new menus and any other information.
13. Assists with the record keeping of fixed asset inventory for the food service department.
14. Perform all other duties assigned by the Business Manager and/or Assistant Business Manager

Requirements:

1. Strong clerical skills, including organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
2. Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and courteously both orally and in writing.
3. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
4. Proficient computer skills including, Microsoft Excel and Word or Google Sheet and Docs.
5. Experience with CSIU Fund Accounting software preferred
6. Follow procedures for keeping records
7. Make decisions based on judgment and District policy
8. Follow instructions without close supervision.
