Accountant - Providence Community Management

We are currently seeking a full-time Accountant to join our Central Office Team. The preferred applicant is required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or business equivalent supplemented by a minimum of three years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts payable required. Experience with property management accounting and HUD systems, Microsoft Office Suite; Adobe Acrobat. Experience with YARDI is a significant plus.

Providence Community Housing is a 501(c)3 nonprofit affordable housing developer and property manager serving the Greater New Orleans area. With almost 20 years of development experience and over 1,700 residential units developed to date, Providence has taken over the property management functions of Christopher Homes, Inc. and is proud to add their 60-year history of excellence to our team managing over 2,400 senior affordable apartments. We focus on the production and preservation of affordable housing and empowering strong communities.

A typical day in the life of the Accountant involves a blend of core accounting functions and tasks that include but are not limited to being responsible for basic accounting functions that include the preparation and review of financial statements including reconciling balances of general ledgers and making any necessary adjustments to ledgers for assigned portfolio of properties. The Accountant also applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Additionally, the Accountant is also fully cross trained and functions in a secondary manner as support for Accounts Payable with one or more properties assigned at any given time. In coordination with the AP Specialist, this position will also be responsible for processing and managing incoming invoices, ensuring accurate coding, and timely payments. This role involves reconciling vendor accounts, verifying payment details, and supporting the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records and cash flow.

You'll also work closely with other team members and regulatory representatives on budget renewals and funding requests, offering support and fostering a strong sense of team and community, all while keeping detailed records and ensuring compliance with housing regulations. • Prior experience in property management accounting and HUD systems a plus

This is a full-time position, in office, typically Monday through Friday.
