Semiconductor Process Piping Technician

A day in the life

You start your shift by reviewing 2D drawings and blueprints for the day’s work. You verify routes, elevations, and tie-in points, then stage the right piping materials—carbon steel, stainless, PVC, and specialty alloys—based on process and spec. After coordinating with engineers, project managers, and other trades, you get to work fabricating, fitting, and securing lines. Your welding skills (TIG, MIG, stick) come into play to create clean, reliable connections. You install supports, brackets, and hangers to ensure stability and mitigate stress. Before turning over a line, you conduct hydrostatic or pneumatic tests to validate system integrity, document results, and resolve any findings. Throughout the day, you follow ASME, ANSI, OSHA, and company safety standards and help junior team members learn best practices. You finish by updating records of materials, work completed, and any modifications for future reference.

What you’ll do

• Install, assemble, and repair process piping systems to design specifications and industry standards.
• Work with a range of materials: carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, and specialty alloys.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to lay out piping routes and placements.
• Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication using TIG, MIG, and stick methods as needed.
• Conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests to ensure leak-free performance.
• Select and install the correct valves, fittings, flanges, and gaskets for each service.
• Install pipe supports, brackets, and hangers for structural integrity and stress control.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, ANSI, OSHA, and SemiConX safety procedures.
• Troubleshoot issues such as leaks, corrosion, and flow disruptions; perform maintenance and repairs.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other trades to coordinate work.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and system changes.
• Operate hand and power tools including pipe threaders, cutters, and benders safely and efficiently.
• Follow hazardous material handling procedures and environmental compliance requirements.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job training to apprentices and junior pipefitters.

What you bring

• Strong math foundation (algebra, geometry, trigonometry) to support layout and measurement.
• Clear verbal and written communication; proficiency in English for documentation and coordination.
• Proven teamwork and collaboration skills in fast-paced industrial settings.
• Proficiency in: Plumbing, Pipefitting Skills, Conduit Pulling, Conduit Bending.
• Comfort reading and working from 2D drawings.
