We have a team environment that focuses on the greater good, resulting in a fantastic place to work that positively impacts our business partners and community.A Construction Laborer – Underground Pipelines will perform tasks involving physical labor at underground projects for McGuire & Hester. May operate hand and power tools for all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, remove asbestos, lead, and other hazardous waste materials if appropriately trained and certified.Reports ToForemenKey Communication PartnersForemen and SuperintendentsTypical DutiesMust be consistently at work on time, follow instructions, responds to management direction, commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals and complete tasks on time or proposes an alternative plan to appropriate personObserve safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properlyInstall sewer, water, and storm drainpipes using pipe laying machinery and laser guidance equipmentDig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakesClean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards if appropriately trained and certifiedControl traffic passing near, in, and around work zonesTend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and certifiedThe ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50lbs of weightPerform general physical activities that may include climbing, lifting, balance, walking, stopping, or kneeling.
