JMC: RN I, ED

This nursing position is responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process, applying clinical knowledge, and exercising independent judgment for themselves and delegated nursing staff, to achieve quality patient care outcomes in an inpatient hospital setting. Minimum Qualifications Education, Certification, and/Or Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state where services will be provided or current multi‑state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. Experience: Less than 12 months of experience as a registered nurse. Preferred Qualifications Education, Certification, and/Or Licensure: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Core Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate safety and continuity of care using documentation and handoff tools. Create a plan of care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnoses, intervention, evaluation of outcomes. Recognize patient safety concerns through appropriate resources. Provide education based on patient learning needs. Incorporate patient individuality and mutuality data in care delivery. Perform adequate patient assessment and documentation. Demonstrate teach‑back method to evaluate education effectiveness. Utilize Evidence‑Based Practice (EBP) in nursing care. Participate in organizational patient‑centered care model. Document problems and issues in the plan of care. Grow ability to care for more complex patients using consultation with experienced colleagues. Commit to lifelong learning through self‑reflection and inquiry. Maintain accountability for delegated nursing care. Recognize scope of practice for all interprofessional team members. Participate in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection. Assess impact of family dynamics on health and wellness. Integrate ANA’s code of ethics into practice. Identify discriminatory healthcare practices in culturally diverse populations. Individualize care based on patients’ beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn. Physical Requirements Minimize manual lifting of patients; limit safe patient handling to 35 pounds as recommended by NIOSH. Perform heavy/hard work requiring strength, stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials weighing 40+ lbs. Normal visual acuity. Normal hearing. Working Environment Protracted or irregular hours. Exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases. Work with or near deceased patients. Hands in water. Electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment. Skills and Abilities Interpersonal skills for communication, negotiation, conflict resolution. Competent clinical practice and critical thinking to deliver patient care efficiently. Flexibility to respond to changes in work volume, staffing, and scheduling. Ability to work under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads.
