Job Title: Yard Worker

Job Description

This role supports a busy yard operation by tracking inventory, building and staging orders, coordinating drop-offs and deliveries, and loading and unloading trucks. You will operate industrial forklifts to safely move steel, pipes, tanks, and other materials while working primarily outdoors in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Track and maintain accurate inventory of materials in the yard using established procedures and tools.
• Build and stage customer and project orders according to specifications and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate drop-offs and deliveries to ensure materials are available when needed and routed correctly.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using industrial forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Operate industrial and reach lift forklifts to move steel, pipes, tanks, and other heavy materials around the yard.
• Organize and maintain the yard to ensure materials are stored safely and are easy to locate.
• Monitor incoming and outgoing orders to keep up with high demand and ensure timely fulfillment.
• Work closely with logistics and yard teams to manage inventory flow and resolve any discrepancies.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and working outdoors.
• Adapt to changing priorities and support additional yard duties as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Essential Skills

• Experience with inventory control in a yard, warehouse, or similar environment.
• Hands-on experience building and staging orders for shipment or delivery.
• Experience in logistics or material handling, including coordinating drop-offs and deliveries.
• Proven experience operating industrial forklifts to move heavy materials.
• Reach lift forklift experience in a yard or warehouse setting.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Comfort working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple orders and shifting priorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a construction yard environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with handling steel, pipes, tanks, and similar industrial materials.
• Strong attention to detail when tracking inventory and building orders.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and operate equipment responsibly.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent full-time schedule.

Work Environment

You will work outdoors at a large industrial site in a construction yard setting. The schedule is a 50-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with 10-hour days. The environment is fast-paced, with several orders and material movements occurring over the coming months, requiring close attention to inventory and order management. You must be comfortable working in the heat and performing physically active tasks throughout the day. Work involves regular use of industrial and reach lift forklifts and handling steel, pipes, tanks, and other heavy materials in an active yard operation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Phoenix,AZ.
