The Outfitters Ski Technician supports the winter operation through demo service, tuning, service intake, hardgoods support, bootfitting support, member equipment troubleshooting, and daily shop execution. This is not a single-function back-shop role. Ski Technicians are expected to be cross-trained across the full Outfitters operation while developing individual specialties. Specialty areas may include tuning, demo operations, bootfitting, hardgoods, service intake, or member equipment troubleshooting.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides professional demo service for members and guests.
- Assists with equipment selection based on ability, preferences, conditions, terrain, and member needs.
- Prepares demo equipment for daily use.
- Supports ski setup, equipment handoff, returns, and condition checks.
- Maintains organization, cleanliness, and presentation of the demo fleet.
- Accurately uses EasyRent or related systems to support demo operations.
- Tracks equipment movement, returns, issues, and service needs.
- Communicates fleet damage, missing equipment, service concerns, and member issues to supervisors.
- Performs ski tuning and service work based on experience, training, and authorization.
- Supports waxing, edge work, griding, base repair, minor repairs, and demo fleet maintenance.
- Maintains high standards for quality, consistency, cleanliness, and safety.
- Supports service intake and clear documentation of member equipment needs.
- Helps manage work flow, work tickets, member timelines, and service priorities as directed.
- Uses EasyWork or related systems as trained.
- Maintains organized tuning, service, tool, and machine areas.
- Communicates supply, consumable, tool, or machine needs to supervisors.
- Supports all aspects of Wintersteiger machine maintenance.
- Assists with ski, boot, binding, and pole questions.
- Supports hardgoods sales through practical product knowledge and member needs assessment.
- Mounts, adjusts, or calibrates bindings.
- Follows all safety, liability, and documentation standards related to equipment service.
- Stays current on ski technology, equipment trends, binding standards, and department procedures.
- Helps members troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and professionally.
- Supports the Assistant Manager and fit team with bootfitting appointments as trained.
- Assists with basic boot assessment, appointment flow, product preparation, and member communication.
- Prepares boots, liners, footbeds, and tools for fit work.
- Supports heat molding, shell/liner adjustments, or basic modifications only when trained and authorized.
- Learns and follows WPR bootfitting standards.
- Contributes to a professional and organized bootfitting environment.
- Supports retail floor operations.
- Assists members with basic product questions and direct them to the appropriate staff member when needed.
- Supports softgoods and hardgoods sales through product knowledge and service-minded recommendations.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization across all Outfitters areas.
- Helps with opening, closing, product movement, equipment staging, and general department readiness.
- Assists with inventory organization, equipment tracking, receiving support, and back-of-house organization as needed.

Qualifications
- Prior ski shop, demo/rental, tuning, bootfitting, hardgoods, outdoor retail, resort, club, or technical service experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ski/ board equipment knowledge.
- Tuning experience preferred.
- Bootfitting experience preferred for 1-2 positions, but not required for all Ski Technician hires.
- Binding certifications.
- Experience with Wintersteiger equipment, EasyRent, EasyWork, POS, or Microsoft systems preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and safety.
- Ability to learn technical processes and follow service standards.
- Comfortable working directly with members in a premium service environment.
- Willingness to support all areas of the Outfitters operation.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent bending, reaching, carrying, twisting, organizing, and equipment handling.
- Ability to work around tuning machines, tools, skis, boots, poles, and service equipment.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding winter resort environment.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and peak winter periods.
Work Environment
- Premium private club and winter resort environment.
- Combination of demo area, tuning/service shop, bootfitting area, retail floor, and back-of-house support.
- Frequent interaction with members, guests, team members, and other departments.
- Fast-paced during weekends, holidays, and peak ski season.
- Work requires attention to safety, liability, equipment condition, and member experience.
