Reports To: Assembly Lead

Position Summary

The Assembly Technician plays a critical role in the production of precision-engineered

components for the oil and gas industry. Working in a fast-paced machine shop environment,

this position is responsible for assembling parts according to Standard Operating Procedures

(SOPs), meeting daily production quotas, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring

workplace safety. The role requires standing on your feet for extended periods, physical

stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Assembly

• Assemble machined components and subassemblies according to detailed SOPs, blueprints, and work orders.
• Operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, torque wrenches, and other assembly equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all assemblies meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Perform visual inspections for defects, correct assembly, and proper tolerances before approving parts for shipment.

Quality & Compliance

• Follow all company quality control procedures and safety guidelines without exception.
• Complete and maintain accurate production documentation, including assembly checklists, inspection reports, and quota tracking logs.
• Immediately report any non-conformance, defective parts, or safety concerns to the Production Supervisor.

Operational Efficiency

• Consistently meet or exceed daily and weekly production quotas.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area according to 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Work collaboratively with machinists, welders, and quality inspectors to ensure smooth workflow across departments.

Safety & Physical Requirements

• Follow all PPE requirements (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, etc.).
• Stand for extended periods, potentially the entire shift, to monitor and maintain production and quality standards, ensuring output is not compromised by sitting.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull a minimum of 20 lbs repeatedly during the workday.
• Safely handle heavier items with team lift or mechanical assist devices when needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or a related field (oil and gas industry experience a plus).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and SOPs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Proven track record of meeting production quotas in a manufacturing setting.
• Basic math skills for measurement, part alignment, and tolerance verification.

Work Environment

• Machine shop and production floor setting with exposure to machinery noise, lubricants, and metal components.
• Climate may vary depending on season and shop ventilation.
• Work may involve bending, stooping, crouching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
