Senior Director, Enterprise Readiness

The Senior Director Enterprise Readiness is responsible for ensuring the organization is fully prepared to adopt and sustain large-scale transformation initiatives, while also identifying opportunities for process and capability maturity across “Run the Business” work. This role bridges strategy and execution—aligning business functions, enabling adoption, and driving organizational preparedness across people, processes, technology, and governance. The role leads and helps solve our most complex problems as an organization.

The Senior Director Enterprise Readiness is accountable for ensuring Medica’s strategic and transformational investments achieve intended business outcomes through effective enterprise readiness, change enablement, and operational adoption. It also works collaboratively to advance capability maturity e-to-e across Medica to ensure we sell, implement, and operate effectively, decreasing defects in our processes and driving improved stakeholder experience.

Acting as a key change agent, this role is accountable for influencing and driving business decisions related to the planning, delivery, and operational aspects of both strategic initiatives and ongoing “operations,” while ensuring the organization is ready to adopt and sustain change at scale.

The Senior Director Enterprise Readiness partners closely with Executive leaders, Business Owners, Sales/Client, Product Management, Technology, and Operations leaders across Medica to ensure readiness is consistently embedded in delivery and that outcomes are realized and sustained as part of business-as-usual operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Accountabilities

Evolve and Mature the Readiness Operating Model

• Evolve the Readiness operating model - what readiness owns, how it interacts with functional teams across Medica (sales, product, client, operations, technology), and what governance looks like year-round. Includes scope definition, role clarity, governance cadence, escalation paths, and reporting dashboard frameworks.
• Build the Readiness capability at Medica from the ground up – assess the largest opportunities for maximum value, recommend the appropriate sequencing of work, and build a multi-year roadmap for continuous improvement across Medica.
• Establish and mature enterprise readiness standards, tools, capabilities and practices, most of which will be de-novo design and build. Assess, design and deploy a standard tracking tool that will allow for KPI management and standardized reporting.
• Identify Key Performance Indicators for the Readiness capability and team that demonstrate progress as an organization in our readiness maturity and execute processes to gather data and refine ongoing.
• Recommend where to align Readiness leads and identify where to leverage other teams in the readiness eco-system. Develop RACIs to facilitate role clarity across multiple cross-functional teams.
• Design, build and lead a Readiness Center of Excellence driving the adoption of standard readiness practices and tools.
• Work with the ePMO and Client Implementation teams to drive standard readiness practices and tools through Program Management best practices and collaborate with ePMO/CI leader to support training and adoption.
• Ensure solutions and readiness activities comply with Medica policies, regulatory, and legislative requirements, collaborating with enterprise risk and enterprise issue management leaders.

Drive Enterprise Readiness, Planning and Execution

• Serve as the enterprise business readiness expert across Medica, ensuring people, process, training, policy, and operational impacts are identified, planned, and executed for key capabilities or strategic initiatives that are “in scope” for Readiness.
• Drive enterprise readiness planning and execution to ensure the organization is operationally and culturally prepared to deliver new platforms, products, or strategic priorities. Lead Medica in solving its most complex problems.
• Create and scale the infrastructure to surface organizational readiness risks, evolve the current governance and reporting structure to surface those risks, and build a prioritization framework for ongoing risk assessment and remediation.
• Measure enterprise readiness, adoption, and post-implementation outcomes to inform continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management, including Executive Leadership

• Drive executive-level decision making that has broad reaching impacts to the organization, including key go-no go decisions on large initiatives, clients and sales. Must influence and make recommendations at the executive level.
• Leads and delivers executive-level communications to ensure alignment, transparency, and clarity on readiness, progress, and outcomes.
• Ensure cross-functional alignment and escalation management related to readiness activities – rationalize current escalation processes and recommend improvements.
• Translates complex enterprise risks and issues into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership decision-making.
• Aligns cross-functional stakeholders to make recommendations and support successful change and adoption.
• Ensures readiness considerations are embedded early in portfolio and delivery planning, influencing scope and timing decisions as needed.

People Leadership: Leads and develops employees to achieve business objectives while fostering an inclusive, compliant, and performance‑driven work environment.

• Creates the “shadow of a readiness leader” across Medica. Champions and encourages a Readiness mindset by being a vocal proponent of risk identification and remediation plans, establishing and following processes across the organization and being a “constructive agitator” to ensure the organization moves away from passive program management.
• Design, build and hire the “seed” team for Readiness, defining roles and job descriptions, hiring talent, onboarding talent and determining the roadmap for scaling the team to meet organizational needs.
• Provides strategic leadership and people direction by setting vision for the Readiness team, developing talent, and ensuring organizational effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with enterprise priorities.
• Sets clear expectations, provides ongoing coaching and feedback, and supports employees’ professional growth.
• Ensures compliance with company policies, employment laws, and HR programs.
• Promotes engagement, collaboration, and accountability while aligning team outcomes with organizational goals.

Other duties as assigned

• Manage ongoing budget for the Readiness team and make annual decisions based on staffing strategy and organizational demand for readiness support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field
• 10+ years of experience in healthcare, business operations, consulting, or transformation delivery
• 5+ years of people management experience
• Demonstrated experience serving as a Readiness Owner or Senior Readiness Leader in a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience interacting with executives and/or senior leadership to define organizational goals

This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week. We are open to candidates located near one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN, or Madison, WI.

The full salary grade for this position is $150,000 - $257,200. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $150,000 - $225,015. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
