Head Track & Field Coach

Job Description Title: Head Coach Reports To: Athletic Director Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Part-Time Salary: $5,357 to $5,357 Stipend Essential Functions Coaches participants in skills necessary for the sport/activity assigned. Maintains competency in rules, regulations, and coaching techniques. Establishes a schedule of practices. Maintains discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforces District policies uniformly when disciplining. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in addition to those established by MHSA and Board policy. Manages inventory of equipment and supplies. Recommends equipment and supplies needed for ensuing season to administration. Schedules intramural and interscholastic contests with Athletic Director. Teaches/coaches importance of teamwork in team activities. Supervises participants and assistant coaches. Other duties may be required as given or assigned. Desired Minimum Qualifications Meets MHSA requirements (if applicable). Holds current American Red Cross First Aid card (for those coaching athletics). Can read and interpret safety rules, operating, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Can write routine reports and correspondence. Effective oral and written communication with students, parents, staff, and community. Handles stressful situations. Maintains confidentiality of employment and student matters. Applies District requirements and Board policies in duties. Manages time and responsibilities effectively. Equipment Used Stopwatch, a variety of electronic and technology devices, copy machine, fax machine, telephone/voice mail, scorekeeping equipment and other equipment pertaining to the sport/activity. Work Environment Employee works around others, with the public, indoors and outdoors. Noise level varies but is frequently loud. Must meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Physical Demands Frequently required to walk and continuously stand. Often required to bend or twist at neck and waist, occasionally reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Uses hand strength to grasp tools. Occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds. Requires close vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Mental/Motor Demands Rarely performs routine work. Exercises flexibility to shift tasks. Guidance and reinforcement infrequently available. Works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness. Frequently involved in social interactions requiring oral and written communication. Uses reasoning and judgment.
