Overhead Crane Operator

Safely operate overhead cranes to lift, position, and move materials throughout the production floor while maintaining compliance with all company safety policies and operational procedures.

Essential Functions

• Safely operate overhead cranes within the fabrication shop and production areas.
• Perform pre-operational inspections of cranes to ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely.
• Inspect chains, slings, hooks, and all rigging attachments prior to use.
• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate crane movements and maintain a safe work environment.
• Understand and adhere to crane load limits, weight capacities, and proper rigging practices.
• Follow all Red Dot safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and company guidelines.
• Maintain current knowledge of company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Participate in all required safety meetings and training programs provided by Red Dot.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, incidents, and near misses to the supervisor immediately.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards that could impact safety or productivity.
• Assist with the movement and staging of materials to support fabrication and production schedules.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Training Requirements
To perform this role successfully, employees must:

• Complete the required crane safety training video.
• Read and sign the Crane Operator Job Description.
• Demonstrate safe crane operation to the East Side Supervisor.
• Demonstrate the ability to safely operate all assigned equipment.
• Comply with all requirements outlined in Red Dot's Safety Manual.

Non-Essential Functions

• Support safety initiatives and productivity improvement projects within the fabrication shop.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
