Position Title: Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:
The Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role requires strong mechanical and industrial electrical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot electrical, controls, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and respond to equipment issues in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, boiler, vacuum, and hydraulic systems and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial three-phase electrical systems, motor-control circuits, disconnects, starters, contactors, relays, transformers, sensors, switches, and related components.
• Troubleshoot variable-frequency drives (VFDs), PLC-controlled equipment, safety circuits, and field I/O to identify electrical, controls, and equipment failures.
• Safely use multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• I nstall and replace industrial electrical components, wiring, conduit, control devices, motors, and instrumentation within the employee's training and authorization.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and accurately document completed work and equipment issues.
• Diagnose equipment problems through observation, testing, and systematic troubleshooting, determining whether failures are mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or controls-related.
• Perform precision mechanical work, including shaft and coupling alignment, bearing installation, belt and chain tensioning, equipment leveling, and measurement of mechanical tolerances.
• Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, presses, mills, belts, sheaves, roller chains, and other production equipment.
• Perform root-cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions or equipment improvements.
• Support equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning, and startup activities, including verification of mechanical, electrical, and control-system operation.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, technical manuals, specifications, and equipment documentation.
• Prioritize work orders and respond to equipment issues to minimize production downtime.
• Source parts and maintain accurate parts, tools, and equipment inventory.
• Safely operate mobile equipment, power tools, hand tools, and specialty equipment.
• Perform basic welding, burning, and cutting as needed.
• Work closely with Operations and Maintenance leadership to improve, maintain, and update production equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all applicable safety procedures and regulations, including lockout/tagout, electrical safe-work, arc-flash, confined-space, and hot-work procedures.
• Respond to equipment call-outs and emergency repairs as needed.
• Participate in ongoing technical training and assist Operations with maintenance-related needs as required.
• Subject to shift work; occasional weekends

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and industrial electrical equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of industrial three-phase power, motor controls, control voltage, electrical protection devices, and electrical troubleshooting practices.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to safely use electrical and mechanical diagnostic equipment and identify the source of equipment failures.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout, electrical safe-work practices, arc-flash hazards, and applicable OSHA and NFPA 70E principles.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment under production conditions, establish repair priorities, and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including in close quarters and confined spaces.
• Ability to work at heights over 4 feet and use aerial equipment and fall protection when required.
• A bility to operate a forklift; training will be provided if needed.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and respond to on-call or emergency maintenance needs.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of industrial electrical/mechanical maintenance experience in a metals, heavy-manufacturing, or continuous-production environment.
• Journeyman-level electrical or millwright training, industrial maintenance certification, or equivalent technical experience.
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery, HMIs, VFDs, motor-control centers, instrumentation, and industrial safety circuits.
• Experience with precision alignment, vibration analysis, predictive maintenance, or other condition-monitoring technologies.
• Experience working with powdered or combustible metals.
• Welding, fabrication, or advanced mechanical skills.
• HVAC/refrigeration experience or Universal certification.
• Experience operating pipe threading machines and running pipe.
• Experience working on or operating boilers.
