SUMMARY The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities on a daily basis, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor supervises the receiving, warehousing and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct staff meetings to review daily and weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement. Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations. Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies. Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals; comply with terms outlined in site operating agreements. Implement and report on cost savings measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations. Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques; create programs to fairly and equitably supervise, counsel and discipline team members. Assist Human Resources with hiring, training and professional development. Participate in the performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities. Oversee training and evaluation of warehouse staff. Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders, arrival notices and customer instructions; assess priorities and assign duties to staff. Review pending jobs or trends, plan warehouse reorganization, and adjust supplies, equipment or staffing levels. Train new staff in assigned duties; assess progress of trainees and add duties as appropriate. Provide guidance and advice on quantity and quality of jobs performed. Delegate supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads. Communicate progress or problems to the Manager on a daily basis; hold regular meetings with staff to assess status and discuss improvement ideas. Assist with physical operations as needed; deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time. Maintain high motivation among team members to focus on customer satisfaction. Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members. Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and train staff on SOPs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise warehouse associates and team leads. Communicate all problems and questions to the Manager. Assist the operations/general manager as needed. Follow all safety procedures at all times. Responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents and materials related to the job. Follow all DSV policies and procedures. Comply with all federal, state and local regulations. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED. 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution or relevant environment. 1 year of experience in a supervisory role. Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE). Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Some college education. 2–4 years’ experience in a supervisory role. 2–4 years of forklift experience. Current or prior MHE certification. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses hands to handle objects, reaches with arms, stoops, kneels or crouches, speaks or hears, and uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. while following proper lifting procedures and stand on feet for up to 8 hours per day. WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. OTHER INFORMATION Expected base pay range: $72,320.00 – $108,480.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
