Scientist, Cell Therapy Bioscience

AstraZeneca seeks a scientist to conduct in vitro discovery work on engineered cell therapies, particularly CAR-T platforms. The role combines hands-on laboratory experimentation with platform development, requiring expertise in immune-cell biology, functional assays, and flow cytometry to advance translational cell therapy programs.

Responsibilities

• Independently conduct, troubleshoot and analyze in vitro cell therapy and immunology experiments
• Culture, characterize, and phenotype primary T and NK cells; engineer cells using viral or non-viral approaches
• Design and execute multiparameter flow cytometry experiments including panel design, staining, acquisition and analysis
• Develop, optimize and apply reusable assays, workflows and data-analysis approaches for cell therapy platform capabilities
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to integrate functional assay, flow cytometry and omics data; maintain accurate records and communicate findings through reports and presentations

Requirements

• BS or MS in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related discipline
• 3+ years of relevant research experience in cell therapy, immunology, or immuno-oncology
• Hands-on experience culturing primary human immune cells and established tumor cell lines
• Proficiency in flow cytometry acquisition, analysis, and interpretation
• Experience designing and executing immune-cell functional assays (cytotoxicity, proliferation, activation, cytokine measurement)
• Practical knowledge of T-cell and/or NK-cell biology and cellular engineering
• Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, documentation and communication abilities
