Job Details

• Position: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
• Location: Towson
• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Shift: Afternoon Shift
• Schedule: 5x8
• Experience Required: 2 Years
• Pay Rate: $30 to $32 per hour

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment
• Operate sterilization equipment including steam autoclaves, low-temperature sterilizers, and washer-disinfectors
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before assembly and sterilization
• Assemble instrument trays according to physician and surgical specialty specifications
• Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation
• Monitor sterilization processes using biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators
• Ensure compliance with AAMI, Joint Commission, OSHA, and facility sterilization standards
• Maintain adequate inventory of sterile supplies and processing materials
• Collaborate with operating room staff and clinical departments to ensure timely instrument availability
• Follow infection prevention, quality assurance, and patient safety protocols at all times
• Assist with equipment maintenance and report damaged instruments for repair or replacement

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification preferred or required by facility
• Minimum 2 years of recent Sterile Processing experience
• Current BLS Certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques, instrumentation, and infection prevention standards
• Experience with surgical instrumentation across multiple specialties
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and quality
