Overview NNP student intern is a full time position lasting 9 months. The first 4 months are spent in didactic study in a certified NNP program. Responsibilities NNP student will successfully complete required coursework toward NNP degree through accredited NNP program. Will maintain ongoing contact with NNP managers as needed during this time. Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes. Under direct supervision of a licensed NNP, the student provides comprehensive health care services to a defined patient population; obtains health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care; performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; participates in patient/family education. Meets the educational needs of patient/family, utilizing principles of teaching/learning. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Advanced degree in progress and 1-2 years experience level 3 neonatal nursing experience Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred EEO Employer/Disabled/Vet Children’s Mercy hires individuals based on their job skills, expertise and ability to maintain professional relationships with fellow employees, patients, parents and visitors.
