Controller/Director of Accounting

Base pay range $180,000.00/yr - $230,000.00/yr Overview Coda Search is partnering with a $50M privately held company that manages a diverse portfolio of entities and continues to expand nationwide. The organization is seeking a Controller to oversee the accounting operations across multiple subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy in consolidated reporting and providing financial leadership to support growth initiatives. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets. Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely consolidated financial statements. Prepare and maintain debt reporting packages for lenders and monitor compliance with loan covenants. Manage accounting for leases, including proper application of ASC 842 and tracking across entities. Develop and supervise the accounting team, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability. Partner with leadership to prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to inform strategic decision-making. Implement and maintain strong internal controls, processes, and system improvements. Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors, coordinating audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting. Provide financial insights to ownership and executive leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and key business drivers. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience overseeing multiple entities. Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidations, leases (ASC 842), and debt reporting. Experience supervising and developing staff. Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a dynamic, growing company environment. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and external partners.
