Job Title Instructional Designer III Department & Location Chief Information Officer Office, West Texas A&M University – Canyon, Texas Job Summary The Instructional Designer III leads the development and support for classroom, hybrid, and online courses. This role manages instructional design projects, provides faculty and student training on instructional technologies, and ensures compliance with university and state regulations. Responsibilities Collaborate with instructors and subject matter experts to design and develop online, blended, and web‑enhanced courses. Consult and support faculty and staff in instructional design, aural learning theories, and best practices. Manage course design and development projects, including planning, review, and coordination with instructional and multimedia teams. Administer and maintain online development courses and resources. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for faculty and students using the WTAMU Learning Management System and other instructional technologies. Design online modules and instructional materials, including self‑help documents, online tutorials, and instructional videos. Perform usability studies, create reports, and recommend instructional strategies, technologies, and applications. Ensure compliance with university rules, Texas A&M System PCI security standards, FERPA, copyright laws, accessibility regulations, and DIR TAC 202. Maintain 100% completion of required system, university, and job‑specific online training courses. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent education and experience. Four (4) years of related instructional design experience. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, online course design principles, LMS, and instructional technologies. Strong multitasking, communication, and presentation skills. Preferred: Master’s degree and six (6) years of related experience. Experience with adult learning theories, assessment, and evaluation in course design. Proficiency in authoring software, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Experience designing workshops, tutorials, and working independently within an LMS as developer, faculty, or support. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills. Effective teamwork, organizational, and time‑management skills.
