PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

G.A. West & Company is seeking a Procurement Specialist in Creola, Alabama. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity working at our home office.

Your job expectations are as follows, but are not limited to:

• Perform market research to identify suitable/available suppliers to provide required solutions for subcontracts, equipment, and/or materials
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met
• Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs) to qualified suppliers
• Manage questions and clarifications on RFQs
• Review, analyze, and evaluate the pricing/terms of respective suppliers
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) or Subcontracts to selected suppliers
• Manage post-award activities with suppliers (change orders, performance evaluation, claims, etc.)
• Assist in supplier invoice verification and approval process in support of Accounts Payable Department
• Close out POs/Subcontracts
• Maintain the high ethical standards expected from a Procurement Professional
• Maintain on/off rental equipment log, material log and subcontractor log with cost savings tracking
• Must use applicable tax codes (state, county, city, etc.) per job, location, client, i.e., taxable, non-taxable, partial taxes, etc.
• Secure competitive quotes that meet or exceed project/customer specifications and delivery time
• Ascertain whether company-owned equipment is available prior to reaching out to third parties
• Ensure fully leveraging ERP system & other systems available to their fullest capabilities to make the most efficient use of time and supporting overall lean processes
• Become proficient and knowledgeable in all aspects in regard to equipment tracking and/or purchasing; i.e., procure to pay cycle
• Become proficient in all aspects of procure to pay process, and work closely with Accounts Payable Department to ensure efficient process from requisition to payment
• Other duties as assigned
• Minimum of one year experience working in a procurement position
• General knowledge of purchase orders, subcontracts and third-party rental agreements
• Ability to prioritize while working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Must be able to communicate both written and verbally in a clear, professional manner
