Mechanical Assembly TechnicianThe Mechanical Assembly Technician works in a manufacturing environment assembling machine components according to detailed prints and standard operating procedures. This role involves hands-on mechanical work with hand and power tools, collaborating with team members and material handlers, and consistently producing quality assemblies within defined timeframes.ResponsibilitiesBuild machine components by accurately following mechanical prints and standard operating procedures.Use a variety of hand tools and power tools to assemble mechanical parts and subcomponents.Work collaboratively within a team to assemble different subcomponents that integrate into larger machines.Coordinate with material handlers to identify, pick, and stage the correct parts required for each assembly.Lift and move components weighing up to 50 pounds as part of the assembly process.Complete individual component assemblies typically within 45 minutes to 1 hour while maintaining quality standards.Follow written and verbal directions carefully to ensure correct assembly and safe operation of equipment.Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient and safe manufacturing operations.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of assembly or mechanical aptitude experience, such as building cars or working in a mechanical trade.Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints and follow written instructions or standard operating procedures.Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of basic mechanical principles.Proficient in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.Comfort working in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production setting.Familiarity with working from prints and standard operating procedures in an industrial environment.Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality assemblies.Reliability and willingness to support overtime needs when required.Why Work Here?Employees join a stable organization with a strong backlog of work and a track record of retaining staff rather than implementing layoffs. Employees may stay late during the week and may work approximately 4 hours on occasional Saturdays, with no work on Sundays, and can expect around 5 to 10 hours of overtime per week. The workspace is equipped with fans for air circulation but is not fully climate controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. The environment is production-focused, organized, and designed to support safe, efficient mechanical assembly work.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Michigan City, IN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
