Material Handler

We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our team at TMS International, LLC in Jewett, TX . As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the movement, organization, and storage of raw materials and finished steel products throughout the facility. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to operate heavy machinery, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Key Responsibilities: Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to transport materials and products within the steel mill. Load and unload raw materials such as steel coils, billets, and scrap from trucks and railcars. Ensure materials are stored properly in designated areas to prevent damage and maintain inventory accuracy. Assist in inventory management, including tracking material usage and reporting shortages or discrepancies. Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to promote a safe working environment. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate material movement and production schedules. Assist in the maintenance of a clean and organized work area. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or industrial settings is preferred. Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment safely (certifications a plus). Strong understanding of safety standards and procedures in an industrial environment. Ability perform physically demanding tasks. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced and often noisy environment.
