Registered Nurse (RN)This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in various nursing specialties. The role includes working in a healthcare environment that provides a range of services including trauma care, surgical services, neuroscience, oncology, and general medical-surgical care. The ideal candidate should have strong clinical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Facility InformationLocation: Montgomery, ALFacility Type: Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke CenterUnit Information6 North Trauma Surgical - Beds: 23 - Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries - Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 - Required Skills: Trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations.5 South Neuroscience - Beds: 33 - Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, angiogram - Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 - Required Skills: IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy care, wound care, chest tube management, and abdominal binders.5 North MedSurg/Oncology - Beds: 39 - Patient Types: All patient types except stroke and MI, including palliative care and ETOH withdrawal - Patient Ratios: 1:6 for RN and LPNs - Required Skills: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemo administration (certification preferred).4 South Clinical Decision Unit - Beds: 18 - Patient Types: General MedSurg including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, and sepsis - Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 - Required Skills: Assessment, prioritization, communication skills, tracheotomy care, suctioning, oxygen therapy, and pressure ulcer management.3 South Orthopedics - Beds: 20 - Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine procedures including joint replacements, fractures, and laminectomies - Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 - Required Skills: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley and drains management.3 North MS/Ortho/Urology - Beds: 23 - Patient Types: Urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg - Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 - Required Skills: Trach care, wound care, wound vac management, IV starts, and central line dressing changes.QualificationsMinimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg with EPIC or Cerner experience.Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS.Telemetry experience is preferred.Support StaffThe unit is supported by a range of staff including Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), receptionists, phlebotomy staff, hospitalists, and telemetry monitoring technicians.Orientation and SchedulingOrientation includes 24 hours of classroom training and 24 hours on the unit. RNs will be assigned to specific units upon the first day of orientation. Weekend rotation is required with expectations for one major and one minor holiday per year. The nursing staff must rotate shifts and adhere to a four-week scheduling cycle.Professional EnvironmentAll nursing staff are expected to demonstrate excellent assessment, communication, and documentation skills while providing high-quality patient care in a collaborative team environment.
