Equipment Maintenance Technician

Location: San Jose, CA 95119

Pay: $40 – $48/hr, paid weekly

Hours: 12-Hour Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) + Overtime as Needed

BP Shift: Sunday–Tuesday and every other Wednesday | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

GP Shift: Thursday–Saturday and every other Wednesday | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Technician to support semiconductor manufacturing operations in a Class 100 cleanroom environment. In this role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve production equipment to maximize uptime, quality, and manufacturing efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair semiconductor manufacturing equipment while identifying root causes of failures.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to established procedures.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance in maintenance tracking systems.
  • Collect and record operational and equipment performance data.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Leadership to improve equipment reliability, increase uptime, reduce preventive maintenance cycle times, minimize wafer scrap, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support training and certification of maintenance technicians.
  • Maintain a safe work environment while following cleanroom and safety procedures.
Required Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of semiconductor equipment maintenance experience.
  • Experience with Vacuum Systems, Photolithography, or Wet Processing/Plating equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience performing failure analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance tracking systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Technical Experience
  • Vacuum Systems: PVD, CVD, Sputter (Balzers, Veeco, Anelva, etc.)
  • Deposition / Ion Mill: Veeco IBE, DLC 350, RF350, RF240
  • Etch Systems: Asher, Hitachi, Matrix
  • Wet Processing: Plating (NiFe, MLO), SRD, NMT, Resist Strip, Chemical Etch
  • CMP: Ebara, Strausbaugh, Disco
  • Photolithography / Metrology: ASML, TEL, Canon, Nikon, KLA, FEI SEM
Education Requirements
  • Technical degree in Electronics or related field preferred.
  • Military technical training (electrical/mechanical) preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing (IC, disk, solar, or related industries) preferred.
