Ophthalmic Technician The Brighton Center for Specialty Care is one of the newer University of Michigan Ambulatory Care facility dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. The 2-story facility is located at 7500 Challis Rd. Brighton, MI. Responsibilities Provide exceptional patient care Provide assistance to ophthalmologists Perform testing related to diagnostic evaluation of the visual system Assist in in-office procedures and treatments Actively monitor clinic workflow Assist in research studies Assist in training and coordinating the work of other ophthalmic team members Assist in onboarding new employees Required Qualifications High School Diploma Successful completion of Michigan Medicine's 12-week training program is required, or some experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required within one year of employment This classification requires Primary Source Verification. This is full-time, working Monday through Friday. The hours depend on the clinic operation hours. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment. Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
