Equipment Repair Technician – Floor Care & Electrical Systems
Walter E. Nelson is looking for an experienced Equipment Repair Technician to join our equipment service department. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills who enjoys diagnosing problems and repairing equipment.
Experience specifically with floor care equipment is preferred, but we are also interested in candidates with experience repairing electric motors, battery-powered equipment, industrial equipment, forklifts, automotive electrical systems, or similar machinery .
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair commercial floor scrubbers, sweepers, extractors, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment
- Troubleshoot electric motors, wiring, switches, relays, solenoids, circuit boards, and electrical components
- Read and understand wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
- Diagnose 12V, 24V, 36V, and other battery-powered systems
- Test batteries, chargers, motors, controllers, and related components
- Perform mechanical repairs including pumps, drive systems, bearings, wheels, squeegee systems, and other components
- Identify problems accurately and determine the correct repair
- Complete preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Document repairs and parts used
- Communicate clearly with customers and our service team
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of electrical circuitry and electrical troubleshooting
- Experience working with electric motors and battery-powered equipment
- Ability to use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals
- Ability to troubleshoot a problem rather than simply replace parts
- Commercial floor equipment repair experience is a plus
- Experience with brands such as Tennant, Kärcher, Nilfisk, Minuteman, NaceCare, ProTeam, or similar equipment is a plus
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently

- Forklift or material-handling equipment repair
- Golf cart or electric vehicle repair
- Automotive electrical diagnostics
- Industrial maintenance
- Electric motor repair
- Commercial appliance repair
- Small equipment or machinery repair
- Battery and charging system repair
- Commercial floor equipment repair
The most important thing is finding someone who understands electrical systems, has strong mechanical ability, and knows how to diagnose a problem. We can teach the right person the floor equipment side of the business.
