Lead Data Engineer / Snowflake Data Architect

iSphere is looking for a Lead Data Engineer / Snowflake Data Architect who can help build the data foundation behind a modern Trading Risk environment, not just move data from Point A to Point B and call it architecture.

This role will help establish a production-ready Snowflake platform while delivering prioritized Trading Risk use cases in an Agile, wave-based approach. The idea is that each delivery should solve an immediate business need while also leaving behind reusable architecture, standards, and capabilities that make the next one easier.

You will be hands-on with Snowflake while also helping define how the broader data platform should operate. That includes ingestion and transformation patterns, security, governance, naming standards, metadata, data quality, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, performance, and cost management.

You will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to turn complex trading and risk data into trusted datasets that can actually support analytics and reporting. You should be comfortable explaining why an architectural decision matters without requiring everyone in the room to become a Snowflake architect first.

What we need:

• Deep hands-on Snowflake experience, including data modeling, performance optimization, security, access controls, and warehouse/lakehouse architecture
• Strong enterprise data architecture experience in cloud-based environments
• Experience designing scalable ingestion, transformation, and publishing patterns
• Strong understanding of Snowflake RBAC, roles, security groups, authorization, and access controls
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, semantic modeling, and ontology concepts
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, version control, automated testing, and modern DataOps practices
• Working knowledge of AWS services including S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, EMR, and Redshift
• Experience working with complex transactional data from Trading, ETRM, ERP, financial, or similarly complicated enterprise platforms
• Ability to translate business and analytical requirements into scalable data architecture
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain architecture decisions and trade-offs to both technical and business teams

Trading Risk experience would be a major plus. Financial Services, energy trading, commodities, or another environment where getting the number almost right is still wrong would also be highly relevant.

Experience building reusable enterprise data platform capabilities will definitely get our attention, especially if you have helped establish standards that allowed new teams and use cases to onboard without reinventing the platform each time.

You will also help optimize Snowflake storage and compute, establish operational monitoring, improve cost visibility, and make sure the environment is built to support more than the first few use cases.

This is a good fit for someone who likes architecture but still wants to build. You should be comfortable setting the standards, getting into Snowflake to prove they work, and helping create a platform that gets stronger as more people start using it.
