Job Summary:  Provides PRN support for the daily operations of the outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic by combining patient registration, scheduling, financial and administrative functions with LPN clinical support for psychiatric providers. Registers patients in a friendly, accurate, and timely manner; obtains and verifies demographic, insurance, medical, and financial information; supports efficient scheduling and patient flow; and assists psychiatric APRNs with direct patient care activities within the scope of LPN practice, including vital signs, screening measures, medication-related support, and clinical documentation. Promotes patient satisfaction, confidentiality, regulatory compliance, and efficient clinic operations.

Job Duties:

• Ensures work and documentation are accurate and complete.

• Maintains a professional image through appropriate behavior and appearance in accordance with WRH policy.
• Collects and enters accurate demographic, guarantor, financial, and medical information for patients registered into the system and verifies patient identification using appropriate documentation.
• Scans appropriate documents into the patient chart and maintains accurate, up-to-date patient information.
• Verifies insurance coverage and enters the correct insurance payer into the patient account. Obtains copies of insurance cards as required.
• Answers department telephone calls and relays verbal and written messages promptly and accurately.
• Discusses patient financial responsibility and requests co-payments or deposits at the point of service as dictated by policy. Receives and posts patient payments as appropriate.
• Performs patient scheduling functions and shares responsibility for reducing no-show and cancellation rates through communication with patients, providers, and the Clinic Supervisor.
• Monitors inventory of clinical supplies.
• Assists psychiatric APRNs with prior authorizations and medication refill processes within established clinic procedures and the scope of LPN practice.
• Obtains and documents vital signs and weight and administers or assists with screening measures such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7, AIMS, and other testing/scales as requested by the provider.
• Collects initial clinical information, including the chief complaint, and maintains an updated medication list.
• Scans and/or enters relevant clinical documents such as laboratory results, recent hospitalization reports, EKGs, and other records into the patient chart.
• Supports efficient patient flow and communicates relevant patient information to psychiatric providers and other members of the treatment team.
• Maintains current knowledge of clinic policies and procedures, HIPAA, Patient Rights, regulatory requirements, and reimbursement practices applicable to assigned duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications:  This position requires a highly productive, self-motivated individual who can manage multiple priorities, work effectively in a busy outpatient behavioral health setting, communicate professionally with patients and staff, and perform both administrative and LPN clinical support duties as needed on a PRN basis.

Education:  High School Diploma or GED and current Arkansas LPN license required. Additional vocational or collegiate education is desired.

Training and Experience:  Medical terminology and hospital or medical office experience preferred. Behavioral health experience, office management experience, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records are preferred.

Job Knowledge:  Must have excellent interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills. Must understand general billing concepts and business practices and maintain working knowledge of WRH and department policies and procedures, medical record documentation, HIPAA, Patient Rights, and appropriate professional conduct. Must be able to perform assigned clinical duties consistent with LPN scope of practice and clinic policy.

Essentials:

• Must maintain a current, unrestricted Arkansas LPN license.
• Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
• Must be able to work effectively with patients, providers, coworkers, and the public while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Physical Demands:  Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of computer/desk work and patient contact. The individual may be required to sit for long periods of time and work in a standard office/clinical environment. Duties also require the ability to obtain patient vital signs and perform routine LPN clinical support activities. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.
