Position Overview Position Title: English or Literacy Specialist Teacher Salary Range: $54,166 - $109,666. Salary scale for K-12 teachers based on education and credentialed years of experience available at Review Timeline: 02/28/2026 Position Description The Preuss School at UC San Diego is seeking qualified English teachers to join our applicant pool for anticipated openings in the 2026/2027 school year. The Preuss School is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college-prep education for low-income scholars who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. Under the supervision of the Principal, the English teacher will: Responsibilities Teach content and skills in subject matter, utilizing courses of study adopted by the California State Curriculum Standards as guidelines. Adapt subject material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students. Establish and maintain an environment conducive to positive teacher-student relations. Promote an environment that respects and values students' ideas and ways of thinking. Establish, maintain, and support standards of personal conduct and discipline in accordance with the current discipline for an orderly, productive learning environment. Use a variety of assessments to monitor and evaluate learning progress of each student and make instructional decisions. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in English. Current California Teaching Credential (CTC) - Single Subject: English or an equivalent credential recognized by NASDTEC reciprocity agreements. English Learner (ELA/ELAS/CLAD/BCLAD equivalent) or CLAD Certificate or equivalent authorization from out-of-state. Minimum of one year teaching as a credentialed English teacher.
