Paralegal

Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP

Overview The role supports attorneys in a sophisticated, high-volume defense practice, handling complex medical negligence, nursing home, and assisted living litigation from pre-suit investigation through trial. Responsibilities encompass full litigation lifecycle support, including case intake, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation for medical malpractice and long-term care defense matters. Key tasks involve analyzing, organizing, and summarizing voluminous medical records, chronologies, charts, and facility documentation (e.g., MARs, care plans, incident reports, survey/citation history). The position coordinates with expert witnesses, managing record production, CV/report tracking, and deposition logistics, and drafts and manages discovery responses, subpoenas, and medical record requests/authorizations. The role requires deep substantive knowledge of medical records analysis, regulatory frameworks pertinent to healthcare providers and facilities (state licensing/survey standards, CMS/OSHA regulations), and procedural demands of defending healthcare clients. Proficiency with litigation support and e-discovery tools (e.g., Relativity, iManage, Trial Director, or similar) is expected. Insurance defense experience in medical malpractice and/or long-term care defense litigation is strongly preferred. This position has an annual billable requirement of 1,600 hours. #J-18808-Ljbffr
