MAINTENANCE PROJECT MANAGER- UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA

Job Summary Under general supervision, responsible for inspection and documentation of construction projects in areas of safety and code compliance and adherence to plans and specifications. Operates within a team that includes the Owner, design professionals, general contractors, sub-contractors, project managers, and other team members to ensure owner satisfaction and project success. Job Responsibilities Perform periodic inspections and evaluations on construction projects as the Owner's representative; report operational deficiencies and enforce industry standard safety policies to reduce risk of accidents. Ensure quality assurance and quality control activities are performed at the job site by monitoring quality levels for acceptability and recommending performance improvements as needed. Ensure federal, state and local regulations and codes concerning health, safety, and the environment are strictly adhered to in the construction of facility projects; conduct inspections with authorities having jurisdiction, contractors, construction superintendents, and project managers. Provide quality assurance inspections to ensure construction work complies with the contractor’s safety program and provide feedback/critique. Provide technical expertise and interpretations on OSHA standards. Commit to continuously improving the quality and value of service provided to customers. Work safely in a construction environment; fully tour construction sites to monitor progress and adherence to project documents. Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; complete assigned training. Schedule testing activities as required, manage the testing process, and supervise all field tests. Review safe work permit programs and tracking (hot work permit, lift plan, etc.). Complete training and other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent combination of training and work experience in commercial construction. Familiarity with Activity Hazard Analysis. OSHA 10‑hour certification required; OSHA 30‑hour training a plus. Certified Safety Professional or Associate Safety Professional is an advantage. Experience implementing a variety of occupational health and safety programs. At least seven years of experience managing or inspecting construction work. Preferred plumbing, electrician’s, or HVAC technician’s license. Valid Class “C” driver’s license. Interpersonal skills to deal effectively and courteously with administrators, department heads, researchers, supervisors, staff, customers, government agency representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors. Job Specifications The position requires walking long distances, standing or sitting for extended periods, lifting moderate weight, twisting, bending, reaching, kneeling, and climbing ladders to inspect roofs and other structures. Working conditions are primarily at construction sites with potential exposure to heat, noise, dust, and debris.
